Project Description
CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was created from the educational concept of St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a nineteenth-century educationalist and social activist in South India. In 1831, he formed the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first Catholic local congregation, which manages CHRIST (Deemed to be University).
Over 27000 students are enrolled in Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programmes in the humanities, social sciences, science, commerce, management, engineering, education, and law at this multi-disciplinary institution that emphasizes on education, research, and engagement.
The University has three campuses: one in Bangalore, Karnataka; one in Pune, Maharashtra; and one in Delhi, NCR. The development of a new campus in Peenya, Bangalore, is currently underway.
